1 bag caramels (around 48) OR 1 bag caramel bits (much easier)
7 ½ T. Minot milk (only took 4 T. when using caramel bits)
1 ½ C. flour
1 ½ C. old-fashioned rolled oats
1 1/8 C. brown sugar
¾ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 C. plus 1 T. butter - melted
12 oz. bag chocolate chips
¾ C. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and melted butter. Press half of the mixture into a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven. Melt the caramel and milk over a pan of hot water on low heat. Pour the melted caramel mixture over the crust. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts over the caramel layer. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over the caramel layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 14-18 minutes. Do not overbake.
