½ C. butter – softened
½ C. vegetable oil
½ C. confectioners’ sugar
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla
2 ¼ C. flour
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cream of tartar
½ tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. Chill dough in fridge. Form dough into small balls. Flatten each dough ball with bottom of a glass that has been oiled and dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

My best friend in high school gave me a cookbook for my 16th birthday and this recipe was in the cookbook. These were one of Grandma Hise’s favorite cookies.
