1 c. Sugar
1 c. Milk
2 eggs beaten fine as silk
Salt, nutmeg, lemon too
Of baking powder teaspoon 2.
Lightly stir the flour in
Roll on pie board, not to thin
Cut in diamonds, twists, and rings
Drop in fat that quickly swells
Evenly the spongy cell.
Watch with care the time for turning
Fry them brown just short of burning.
Roll in sugar, serve when cool.

I use 1/4 c cream for this rule
Instead of all milk.
