3 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 C. shortening
1 C. sugar
2 eggs
4 T. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and beat together. Gradually add the dry ingredients, milk, and vanilla to the creamed mixture. Chill the dough for a couple of hours. Roll the chilled dough to about a ¼ inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes or 400 degrees for about 5 minutes. Watch closely and take the cookies out as soon as the edges start turning light brown. Frost and decorate after the cookies have cooled.

These are always a favorite during the holidays. I loved making sugar cookies with the grandkids. 6 tablespoons of cocoa can be added to make chocolate sugar cookies.
