Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Day before making, brown:
Hamburger - 1 1/2 pound
Onion - 1 medium
Cabbage - 6 cups
Add 1.5 tsp of salt and generous amount of pepper.
Put in refrigerator overnight.

Making the Sweet Dough
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup warm water
1 egg
1/4 cup lard
1/8 cup sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 pkg regular yeast
1/4 cup mashed potatoes
1/2 cup canned milk
Additional warm water as needed

Directions:
Directions:
Soak yeast, warm water and mashed potatoes together - let stand for 10 minutes. Then add baking soda, baking powder, sugar, salt, egg and milk - let stand x 20 minutes.
Then add flour and lard. Add additional flour or water to make dough form a ball around the dough hook of the mixer. Once to the correct consistency run the mixer on speed 3 or 4 to knead the bread for a total of 11 minutes.
Do a “window” test on a small ball of dough. If it holds its shape without tearing then it is ready for the next step. If not knead a little longer.
Remove dough from the mixer.
Hand mold the dough into a ball.
Brush a small amount of olive oil in a bowl and place the dough into it and rub a very small amount of olive oil on the top of the dough.
Place in a warm area and cover x 2 hours.

Constructing the Krautburgers:

Punch down the dough. Then spread it on a lightly floured counter…into a rectangle shape.
Divide into 3 ounce balls (should make about 12).
Roll each ball into a square/round.
Place ~3 Tbsps of hamburger/cabbage mixture into the center and add shredded cheese on top (optional).
Pull the 4 corners of dough up and pinch together. Then pinch the 4 creases together. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper - creases down. (~ 6 per cookie sheet). Bake 1 cookie sheet at a time for 25-30 minutes @ 375º

Butter tops after removing from the oven. Enjoy!
