4 egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar

Filling:
4 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 teaspoons lemon zest
1 carton Cool Whip

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º. Butter a 9" pie pan and set aside. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add cream of tartar and beat until you get stiff peaks. Add sugar and beat until stiff and glossy. Spread into pie pan and bake for one hour at 300º, increase temperature to 325º and bake additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.

For the filling, beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored. Add sugar, lemon juice and zest. Cook in double broiler until thick like a custard and coats the back of a spoon. Allow to cool. Put half the Cool Whip in the crust, all of the egg yolk filling next and finish with the rest of the Cool Whip. Refrigerate 24 hours.
