2 acorn squash, halved and seeds removed
2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons maple syrup (substitute: brown sugar or honey)
¼ cup pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°.

Place the squash halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and distribute the butter and maple syrup into the cavities.

Roast in the oven until the squash is tender, about 40-50 minutes, occasionally basting the squash with the pooled butter and syrup.

Sprinkle toasted pecans over the roasted squash before serving.
