Cake Mix

1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening

In a medium bowl combine the sugar, cocoa, flour, baking soda and salt. Stir until blended. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles corn meal. Store in an airtight container. Use within 12 weeks. Makes 11 cakes.
 

To Make The Cake

1/3 of a cup of the Easy Bake cake mix
5-6 teaspoons of water

Directions:
Mix 1/3 of a cup of the Easy Bake cake mix with 5-6 teaspoons of water until smooth. Pour mixture into a well greased and floured 4" round baking pan. Follow the directions for your Easy Bake Oven. Cool cake in the pan for 5 minutes. Invert onto a small plate and remove pan. When completely cool, frost with chocolate or vanilla frosting. This makes 1 cake.
 

Chocolate or White Frosting Mix

2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons dry milk
1/2 cup cocoa (unless you're making vanilla - if so leave it out)
6 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening

In a bowl combine the powdered sugar, dry milk and cocoa (if using). Cut in the shortening. Store in an airtight container. Use within 12 weeks.
 

To Make The Frosting

1 cup frosting mix
2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons water

In a small bowl combine the frosting mix and water. Stir with a fork until smooth. Makes about 1/4 cup.
