9 uncooked lasagna noodles

Meat Sauce:
1/2 lb. Ground Beef
1/2 lb. bulk Italian Sausage
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 (16 oz) can stewed tomatoes (with green peppers)
1 (15oz) can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp. salt

Cheese layer:
1 cup Ricotta cheese
1 cup creamed cottage cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
1 tbsp dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 dried oregano
2 cups shredded Mozzarella
1/4 c grated Parmesan

Directions:
Brown meat; drain. Reserve some of the juice. Saute onion and garlic in the same pan. Combine meat, onion, stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons of Parsley, sugar, basil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Heat to boiling, reduce heat, and simmer for approximately 1 hour (until it becomes the consistency of thick spaghetti sauce).

Cook noodles per package instructions. Mix Ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, 1/4 cup parmesan, 1 tablespoon parsley, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and the oregano. Reserve 1/2 meat sauce Layer 1/3 each of the noodles, sauce, mozzarella cheese and ricotta cheese mixture in an ungreased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Repeat twice; spoon unreserved sauce on top. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered and 350º for 45 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
