1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 1/2 pounds chicken legs and thighs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 400º. Combine oil, garlic, onion, paprikas, and chili powder, and simmer about 8 minutes. Add ketchup, vinegar, butter, Worcestershire and 1 cup water. Cook, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Pat chicken dry. Season with salt and pepper. Place skin-side down on a rimmed baking sheet. Pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken and cover with foil. Bake about 25 minutes. Remove foil and continue to bake about 15 minutes. Turn chicken skin-side up and bake until ligjtly browned about 15 minutes more. Coat with sauce and serve.
