1 pound lean ground beef
2-3 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper
4-5 cups milk

Toast for serving

Brown ground beef in a skillet. Drain excess grease off. Add flour and salt and pepper. Stir until flour is browned and it is well mixed.
Add milk and cook until bubbly.

Serve immediately on toast.

This is a very famous dish for G.I.'s. I never had it til I joined the Army. But in the army, they don't call it "Chipped Beef on Toast." Thus the acronym - S.O.S.
