1 white or yellow cake mix
½ lb. butter, cut into squares

for Cherry: 1 can cherry pie filling (20 oz.) and chopped pecans are optional

for Pineapple: 1 can pineapple rings in heavy syrup (20 oz.)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with butter. Dump in cherry pie filling or the pineapple rings and syrup. Spread fruit evenly. Evenly layer the dry cake mix on top of the fruit. Cover with the ½ lb. butter squares. Bake 45 minutes.

You can add in chopped pecans with the cake mix if desired. Important Note: Do NOT mix anything in the baking pan...layer fruit, cake mix, (nuts optional) butter.
