5 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cut into 1/4" slices
5 T. sugar
4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3 cups flour
1 T. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/3 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
1 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350º.

Mix 5 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon in small bowl; set aside. Toss into apples.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.

Mix sugar, eggs, orange juice, oil and vanilla in large bowl.

Add flour mixture; mix well.

Spoon batter and apple mixture alternately into lightly greased tube pan until all ingredients are used, beginning with batter and ending with apple mixture.

Bake for 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours. Cool for 20 minutes. Remove from pan.If desired, flip so apples are on the top.
