½ c. sugar
2 ½ T. cornstarch
½ tsp. salt
1 T. flour
3 c. milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 T. butter
1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and flour in a saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir a little of the mixture into the eggs yolks. Then blend this hot mixture into the saucepan. Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Blend in butter and vanilla. Cool. Pour into cooled, baked pie shell. Top with whipped cream or meringue.
For Chocolate Cream Pie: Use 1 ½ c. sugar. Add 3 squares chocolate, cut up, with the milk.
For Cocoanut Cream Pie: Add ¾ c. cocoanut after mixture cools, before pouring into pie shell.
