1/2 c. Crisco or room temperature butter
1.5 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. thick apple sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1.5 - 2 c. flour (Start with 1.5; add more if batter seems too loose)

Preheat oven to 350º. Grease loaf pan.

Cream the Crisco (butter), sugar and egg together. Dissolve the baking soda in applesauce and add to butter mixture. Sift the salt, cinnamon, clove, and flour together and slowly add to butter mixture.

Pour entirely blended mixture into greased loaf pan and bake for 50 - 60 minutes.
