1 large can plum tomatoes
3 large cloves garlic, minced finely
3 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
Fresh or frozen basil (4 leaves)
1 bay leaf

Directions:
Directions:
Brown garlic in oil, add tomatoes with juice, broken up, and spices. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer. Simmer for ½ hour and serve over spaghetti or linguine.
FOR RED CLAM SAUCE:
Add 1 can minced clams with juice five minutes before done, OR add 1 dozen shucked fresh clams with ½ cup strained clam juice...
NOTE: When adding clams, only simmer for five additional minutes or clams will become tough and rubbery.

**This is a great sauce for adding any type of seafood......I will make shrimp sauce, langostino sauce, or lobster sauce using the marinara as a base......Joni
