2 c. Brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 Eggs
4 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Filling
2 c. Dates or part raisins
1 c. Sugar
1 c. Water
1 c. Nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar; beat eggs slightly & add to mixture. Then add flour mixture & chill dough overnight. Roll out thin between wax paper & spread with filling.

Filling mixture - cook until thick & cool. Spread over cookies. Place cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet.
