1 1/2 Cups Cornmeal
1 Cup Flour
3 Eggs
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
2 1/2 Cups Hot Milk
2 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Jalapeņo Peppers
1 Small Finely Chopped Onion
1 Cup Creamed Corn
1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
As Needed, Cooking Oil for Frying

In a large mixing bowl, combine the CORNMEAL and FLOUR.

In a separate bowl, beat the EGGS, then add to the CORNMEAL mixture and stir together well.

Now, add in the SALT, SUGAR, ONION POWDER, GARLIC POWDER, BAKING POWDER and CAYENNE PEPPER and mix well.

Now, add in the MILK, Chopped PEPPERS, Chopped ONIONS and Creamed CORN and mix well.

Finally, add in the CHEESE and Melted BUTTER and stir together to mix well.

Meanwhile, have enough COOKING OIL in a deep pot for deep frying. Heat the OIL to 365°F-375°F.

Using a Tablespoon, spoon about 8 to 10 Hush Puppies at a time into the Hot Oil.

Fry until Golden Brown, flipping if necessary, then remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel.

Repeat with remainder of Batter.

Hush Puppies are a great Southern tradition, along with buttermilk Coleslaw and Southern-fried Catfish. - This recipe is Mom's Fancy version of a Hush Puppy. The Creamed Corn makes these Hush Puppies extra moist and yummy. - These tender morsels smell great and taste even better.
