Directions:
Sift the FLOUR with the SALT and BAKING POWDER into a mixing bowl.

Beat the EGGS in a bowl, then add the MILK and beat again.

Now, combine the FLOUR with the EGGS and stir together.

Now you drop the DUMPLING BATTER by Tablespoons over the Meat in the Hot Gravy of the Stew or Chicken, or whatever you are cooking.

It is important that the Gravy is very hot, and that the dish is nearly complete before you add the DUMPLINGS.

After adding the DUMPLINGS, continue to cook uncovered for about 5 minutes, then cover the pot and steam for another 5 minutes. - Test to see if done. If not, cook a little longer.

Now, remove the DUMPLINGS to a hot platter.

If the Gravy of the main dish is still too thin at this time, then thicken it up. - Serve hot with the DUMPLINGS.

Personal Notes:
Lots of Southern Cooks have Dumpling recipes. This is one the Mom calls her Baseball Dumplings. - These Dumplings are the fluffy type. You add them to a Stewed Chicken, Beef Stew, or other such dishes. You have to have the Stew nearly done before adding the Dumpling. - You can add a little black pepper or green onion or parsley or garlic powder or whatever you want to your Dumpling mixture before you drop them. You can also add in some Chicken Broth for the liquid to give it extra flavor. - Good with chicken or beef, as well as veal, lamb stew or pot roast. - Tried and Proven, Grandma Ross has been making these for decades.
