1 C Flour
1 C yellow cornmeal
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
¼ cup sugar
¼ Cup melted shortening
1 cup milk
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in the skillet that you’re going to cook the cornbread in. (I add extra shortening to grease the skillet really well). Mix the milk, the melted shortening and the egg together add to the dry ingredients and mix just until slightly lumpy. (don’t over-mix or it will be very cake like)
Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes or until done.
