Granulated sugar
Hot water
Whisky (Any blended whisky will do but a Highland malt whisky will give a better toddy)

Directions:
Fill the glasses or tumblers in which the toddy is to be served with hot water to warm, and them empty them. lace 2 or 3 teaspoons of granulated sugar in the bottom of the warmed glass. Add sufficient hot water to dissolve the sugar (a sherry glassful should be enough). Add the same amount of whisky and stir. Add the same amount of hot water and stir again. Add the same amount of whisky, stir and drink.

There are various methods of making toddy, but this is the method used by the old Highland farmer. Some faint-hearts add lemon juice but he never did - 'Na, na dina spile good whisky!'
