(slightly adapted from Shannon who adapted from Lauren’s Latest who adapted from Rachel Ray)

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup honey
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups quick cooking oats {not rolled oats!}
1 cup crispy rice cereal
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Couple handfuls of mini chocolate chips and mini M&Ms, or finely chopped dried apple and dried cranberries.

In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar with the honey and butter. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce to low heat and continue to heat until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the vanilla then remove pan from heat.
Add the oats, rice cereal, and bar additions to the saucepan and fold the ingredients to evenly coat with the sauce. Transfer the mixture to a 8″ pan baking pan and press firmly to evenly fill. Let if firm up in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes before cutting. Make sure not to leave it in there too long, otherwise they will be too hard.
