2 tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
1. Peel and dice potatoes. Place in 2-quart saucepan; add enough cold water just to cover potatoes. Add 4-8 whole peeled garlic cloves. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
2. Cover and simmer 20 to 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender; drain.
3. Return potatoes to pan and shake pan with potatoes over low heat to dry (this will help the potatoes to be fluffier).
4. Mash potatoes, and garlic cloves if desired, in pan until no lumps remain.
5. Add milk in small amounts, mashing after each addition.
6. Add butter, salt, and pepper. Mash vigorously until potatoes are light and fluffy.
