4 eggs
2 ½ cups sugar
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ sticks butter or margarine
1 cup milk (must be whole milk)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla

TOPPING::
½ cup sugar
Juice of one orange, plus zest.

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Blend sugar, eggs, and vanilla together with a hand mixer on medium.
Melt the margarine or butter into the milk, but do not boil.
Gradually sift flour into the sugar mixture, then slowly add the hot milk mixture.
Fold in the baking powder, but do not beat.
Pour into a greased tube pan and bake for about 50 to 60 minutes, until the cake comes away from the side of the pan.
Mix sugar, orange juice and zest together and brush over cake while it’s still hot.
