1 lb. ground pecans
1/2 lb. ground almonds
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 lbs. phyllo pastry sheets
2 lbs. butter

Syrup:
3 c. sugar
3 c. water
1 cinnamon stick

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F. Mix first four ingredients of filling in a large bowl. Combine syrup ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Place butter in a separate sauce pan and bring to a boil Remove solids to clarify. Brush cookie sheet with butter. Place 5 sheets of phyllo pastry on buttered cookie sheet brushing each individually with butter. Sprinkle top with some of the nut mixture. Top with 2 more buttered sheets of phyllo pastry. Repeat process (5 then 2) using remaining phyllo but reserving 8 sheets. Butter last 8 sheets and place on top. Score baklava lengthwise and diagonally to form triangles.Bake for 1 hour (or until lightly browned). Remove from oven and pour syrup over the top. Allow to cool completely, slice, and serve.
