1-1/2 cups sifted cake flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup bran

Directions:
Directions:
Sift first 3 ingredients together. Work shortening against side of bowl with back of spoon until fluffy and creamy. Gradually add sugar, continuing to work with spoon until light. Add egg and bran; mix well. Add flour mixture; blend well. Shape into roll, 2” in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper; chill in refrigerator several hour or overnight. Preheat oven to 425°F. Slice roll crosswise with sharp, thin knife into cookies about 3/8” thick. Arrange, 2” apart, on greased cookie sheets; bake for 10 minutes or until done. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
