Ingredients: 1 large plastic bag with locking seal 1 c. warm water 1 package fast-rising yeast 2 Tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil 3 c. flour (plus some) 1 egg Coarse salt, poppy seeds or sesame seeds

Directions:Put 1 c. flour, yeast, sugar and water in plastic bag Close bag Knead bag with your fingers to blend the ingredients Let set for 10 minutes Add 1 c. flour, salt and oil to bag Knead dough in bag until flour is well-blended Gradually add small amounts of flour and knead until the dough pulls away from sides of the bag Dough should form a ball Continue kneading for 5 - 10 minutes or more Remove dough and place in large bowl Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place for 30 - 40 minutes Preheat oven to 375º Turn dough onto lightly floured board Divide in half Divide each half into 6 equal pieces Roll each piece into a 20 inch long rope Shape each rope into a pretzel Set 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet Beat egg with fork Use pastry brush to coat pretzels with beaten egg Sprinkle with salt or seeds Bake for 15 - 20 minutes Remove from baking sheets and let cool on wire racks |
