Cake:
1/3 C butter or margerine (softened)
1 C sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/4 C flour
3 heaping tsp baking powder
1 tsp Salt
1 1/2 C milk

Crumbs:
1/2 C butter (softened)
1/2 C Crisco
1 3/4 C flour
1 3/4 C brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350

CAKE: Cream butter with 1 C sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla.

Sift: flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternating with the milk. Pour batter into a greased and floured oblong cookie pan.

CRUMBS: Cream well the butter and Crisco. Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture and mix with your hands to combine.

Roughly spread crumbs over cake layer making sure to have lots of "bumps".

Bake for 25-30 minutes

I got this recipe from our next door neighbor, Stina, in NJ. This was her mother's famous crumb cake that everyone looked for at parties.
