Sauce:
1 lb. ground beef
28 oz can whole tomatoes (run through blender)
12 oz can tomato paste
1 cup finely chopped white onion
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cloves garlic minced

Cheese Sauce:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
2 cups half and half
8 oz can grated parmesan cheese

12 lasagne noodles
8 oz thinly sliced mozzarella
8 oz shredded mozzarella

Sauce:
Brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Add remaining sauce ingredients and simmer for 45 min. covered on low.

Cheese Sauce:
Melt butter. Add onion and flour, stir. Add half and half. Cook and stir until thinkened and bubbly. Add parmesan cheese, stir until melted. Remove from heat, stirring occasionally.

Cook noodles in boiling water for 10-12 minutes. Drain and lay out on waxed paper to cool slightly.

Assembly:
Put 4 noodles on bottom of 9 x 13 pan.
Pour 1/2 sauce on top of noodles.
Put 4 more noodles on top of sauce.
Pour 1/2 cheese sauce over noodles.
Completely cover cheese sauce with 8 oz of sliced mozzarella.
Pour remaining sauce over mozzarella.
Put 4 more noodles on top of sauce.
Pour remaining 1/2 cheese sauce over noodles.
Top with 8 oz. shredded mozzarella.

Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes.

This can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen. Just thaw before baking and increase baking time slightly.
