4 c flour
8 tsp bk powder
2 tsp salt
1 c granulated sugar
2/3 c shortening
3 eggs (beaten)
2 c milk
1 c well drained maraschino cherries (red & green)
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp anise seed

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, bk powder, salt, and sugar, then cut in shortening. Beat eggs in different bowl and add the milk. Put both mixtures together and fold in cherries. Add extract and anise seed and stir till mixed.

Pour dough into well greased & floured 2 qt. mold. Bake 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
