Dumplings: Pour flour into pan. Make a well in the center and place 2 or 3 tbsp. solid shortening into well. Add water and mix with a spoon until good consistency to knead. Knead in flour, place on a floured surface and roll out small amounts at a time, so it can be cut into strips.
Cook potatoes in water and butter. When done, add salt and pepper to taste. When potatoes are done, place dumplings in potatoes and water.
Continue until you have as many dumplings as desired. When you put in dumplings, make sure potato water is boiling.; dumplings will stick. When all dumplings have been cooked, add the carton of whipping cream to mixture. Serve hot.
