1 cup butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pkg. (15 oz.) large sweetened flaked coconut (can add another pkg. for a better taste)
2 boxes powdered sugar (or 32 oz. bag)
2 pkg. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
2 oz. paraffin wax
almonds if making almond joys

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together except chocolate and wax. Mix well; place in refrigerator until cold enough to handle. Roll into balls, shape into bars, or place on a cookie sheet and cut into squares chilling mixture again until ready to dip. Melt chocolate chips and wax in a double boiler over medium heat. Dip mounds using a fork. Can add an almond to the center for almond joys.

This recipe was handed down to Grandma Clara Ready's children. The Coan's would make this candy every year at Christmas...it is just not Christmas without them.
