1 1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
6 eggs separated
1/2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 cup milk
1 tsp. brandy extract or 1/4 milk, 1/4 cup brandy
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp.. salt
2 cups golden raisins
1 cup dried apples
1/2 cup chopped candied orange peel
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Beat butter until light and creamy; add sugar gradually and beat well; add other ingredients and mix well.Place in loaf pan lined with brown paper and Bake 375º F for 1 hour or until done.

This fruit cake is great at Christmas time. Grandma Clara Ready would make this cake and then add brandy over the top to soak in and let it cure for weeks in a cold garage covered in a container.
