1 1/2 cup large seeded cut raisins
1 1/2 cup dates (cut)
2 cups sugar
2 sups boiling water
5 tbsp. shortening
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup mixed fruit

Directions:
Directions:
Place raisins, dates, sugar, water and shortening in pan; simmer gently for 20 minutes; cool; sift flour before measuring then sift flour and spices together; stir into cool mixture; add nuts and fruit that is mixed with a little flour; pour into well greased pan lined with brown wrapping paper. Bake at 325º F for 1 1/2 hours.
