2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1 cup water
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
1 cube butter
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and sugar together in large bowl. In sauce pan bring butter, water, cocoa and shortening to a boil. Pour mixture over flour and sugar and mix well. Add eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla to other ingredients mixing well and pour into a greased and floured large bread cookie sheet. Bake 400º F for 20 minutes.

Make Icing:
Icing must be ready to put on cake when it is removed from oven. In sauce pan bring to a boil butter, cocoa, and milk. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and nuts. Pour hot icing over cake as soon as it is removed from oven. Spread and cut into squares.

This recipe was given by to Clara by her daughter Diane. It was given to Diane by her sister-in-law Lana Schneider. It feeds a lot and is great to take to a pot luck or a big family gathering. Very delicious as well.
