3 C. sifted flour
4 1/2 t. baking powder
1 1/2 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
3/4 C. shortening
3/4 to 1 C. milk
2 quarts strawberries
Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening.
Add milk, mixing to a soft dough. Knead lightly for 20 seconds.
Divide dough in half.
Pat one piece into a 9" layer pan grease with shortening.
Spread with shortening and cover with other half, patting to fill pan.
Bake in very hot over (450) for 30 minutes.
Separate layers.
Spread with butter and cover with berries. Place layer on top, cut side up.
Cover with remaining berries.
Serve with cream.
