2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon mace
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, butter, egg, and brown sugar. Add vanilla. Sift flour, salt, baking soda, and mace. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well then stir in rolled oats and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes at 350°.
