6 to 8 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups molasses
2 tablespoons vinegar
4 teaspoons soda
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and measure 4 cups of sifted flour with salt and spices. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat until light. Add molasses, vinegar and dry ingredients. Lastly, add soda dissolved in boiling water. If necessary, add more flour to make a soft dough. Place in refrigerator overnight. Drop on cookie pan and bake in moderate oven 350° to 375° 10 to 12 minutes.
