1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter
3 eggs
1/4 cup mashed bananas
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sour milk
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten eggs and bananas. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with sour milk. Bake in layer cake pans or a long shallow pan at 350º until toothpick comes out clean.

My sister-in-law, Barbie, says she can still see her Grandmother Riggs sitting at her baking table mixing her batters with just a wire whisk. No fancy electric mixers, just a lot of "elbow-grease"!
