Cake mix:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup milk sweet or sour
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 heaping tablespoons Hershey's cocoa

Custard filling:
1/2 cup cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup dates
1/2 cup nuts
1 egg
Directions:
Directions:
Cake:
Mix together butter, sugar and egg, add baking soda to milk and add to batter. Add remaining ingredients to mixture and bake at 350° until done.
Custard filling:
Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool before putting on cake.
