Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 large artichokes
8 to 10 pods pressed garlic
1 1/2 cups Romano or Parmesan cheese
1/4 to 1/2 cup olive oil
Lemon slices
1 can Italian breadcrumbs
1/4 cup parsley flakes optional
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Snip the very ends of artichokes with scissors. Mix Romano cheese and very finely chopped garlic together with bread crumbs and olive oil. Add finely chopped fresh (or dried) parsley if desired. Spread leaves until flexible and stuff each leaf until filled with mixture. Cook in deep well or steam cooker for 45 to 60 minutes or until petal pulls out easily. These can be served as a vegetable or also as an appetizer. It's hard to tell how much olive oil you will need. Just pour enough to pull your breadcrumbs together. I like to pour a little olive oil over each individual artichoke, and top with a slice of fresh lemon.

Personal Notes:
Azzie made these wonderful artichokes for special occasions. If you wanted to get any, you had better eat them fast, as there were never any left. My Aunt Freeda continued to make these delicious artichokes for me when I was in Biloxi. It was always a very special treat.
