2 1/4 cups of Swan's Down cake flour
3 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups of white sugar
1/2 cup shortening
Milk (see below for amount)
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs, unbeaten

Note from Aunt Mabel: "When using butter, lard or margarine use 7/8 cup milk with vegetable oil use 1 cup milk".
Measure flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into the sifter. Sift into the bowl. Stir and cream the butter until it is soft adding the dry milk, vanilla and one egg at a time. Beat well.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
