½ cup honey
½ cup molasses
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp grated lemon rind
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 ¾ cups sifted flour
½ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp each nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and allspice
¾ cup diced candied citron
½ cup chopped nuts
Blanched almonds
Candied cherries
Glaze (See Below)

Directions:
Put first 3 ingredients in saucepan, and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cool; stir in egg, lemon rind, and juice. Add sifted dry ingredients, citron, and chopped nuts; mix well. Chill overnight. Roll out to ¼ inch thickness, and cut with round 2 ½ inch cutter. Put on greased cookie sheets. Put 3 almonds on each and a half cherry in center. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes. Brush with Glaze while hot.

Glaze**: Cook 1 cup sugar and ½ cup water until a little mixture spins a thread from a spoon. Remove from heat, and stir in a dash salt and ¼ cup sifted confectioner’s sugar.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
