3 1/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs well beaten
1 cup raisins packed
2 cup of dates

Directions:
Directions:
Put raisins and dates in a food processor; set raisins and dates in warm place (not a hot place); sift together flour, salt and baking soda.; cream shortening and sugar until fluffy; add raisins and dates; add flour mixing well.
Drop by tsp. 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderately hot oven 350º F for about 10 minutes until pretty brown.

Eva was Grandma Anna Ready's sister. This recipe was given to Grandma Clara Ready and was dated October 17, 1965. It must have been about the time Grandma Anna Ready was re-united with her after many years of separation. They were sent to different foster homes when their mother passed.
