1 cup sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups pecans, coarsely chopped
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Place all ingredients, except vanilla, in a heavy saucepan and cook over medium heat until very thick. If using a candy thermometer, you are looking for soft ball stage, or 234 to 240°F. Remove from heat and add vanilla, then spread on your cake. Best on yellow cake, but also delicious on devils’ food.
