2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
5 egg yolks
2 cups flour
1 t baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 t vanilla
1/2 cup coconut
5 egg whites, beaten stiff
1 cup chopped nuts

For frosting: 8 oz package cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
1 t vanilla
1 box powdered sugar
3/4 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla, nuts, and coconut. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in three 8 or 9 inch round cake pans at 350 for 25 minutes.
For frosting, Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and mix well. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Spread on layers, sides, and top. Sprinkle nuts an each layer.
