2 Tbsp oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, fresh and crushed
Tomato puree (32 oz can)
Tomato sauce (15 oz can)
Tomato paste (2-6oz cans)
Water (32 oz puree can)
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Parsley
2 tsp or to taste, Oregano and Italian Seasonings
Bay leaf or 1 tsp sugar
1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

In a large sauce pan or Dutch oven, saute the onions and garlic in oil until tender. Add the remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to simmer and simmer for 2 hours. Serve with your favorite pasta, mine is penne. Great with my meatballs and Italian sausages.

This recipe has been passed down through generations of my Italian family. You can freeze half the gravy for a quick meal at a later date.
