Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 loaf French Bread
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened to room temperature. (Do not use margarine -- it has a weird oily taste that doesn't begin to compare to butter.)
3/4 C finely chopped fresh parsley, or 1 Tbsp dried parsley.
6 cloves of garlic minced.
3/4 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp sweet basil
Dash of oregano

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Mix all ingredients except bread in a bowl. Split brread in half lengthwise, and brush the cut surfaces with 2/3 of the garlic butter mixture.

Place buttered bread directly on oven rack and heat for 8-10 minutes.

Remove bread from oven and cool until you can handle it.

Slice garlic bread into slices. Spread remaining garlic butter on both sides of slices. Place slices on cookie sheet and return to heated oven for 2-3 minutes. Remove from oven.

Turn oven on to broil setting. Return garlic bread to oven and broil for a few minutes until top is brown and bubbly.

WATCH it like a HAWK. It wants to burn to a crisp, and you just want it to brown. (Huge difference!)

Variation: Sprinkle garlic bread with shredded parmesan cheese before placing under broiler.
