1 pkg. (14oz.) caramels
1 can (5oz.) evaporated milk
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
2/3 c. butter, melted
3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 (16oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. flaked coconut

Heat caramels and 1/4 c. milk on low heat until melted and smooth; keep warm stirring occasionally. Mix cake mix, butter, remaining milk and nuts. Spread half of the dough (1 1/2 c.) in a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350º for 6 min. Sprinkle chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts over baked dough. Then drizzle the caramel over. Drop remaining dough over and spread evenly. Bake 15-20 min. until cake portion is slightly dry to touch. Cool completely and refrigerate until firm.
